Get Off Life's Treadmill
.

Where are you going?

Vanity of vanities, says the preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity. What is the profit to a man in all his labor which he labors under the sun? A generation passes away, and a generation comes; but the earth remains forever. The sun also arises, and the sun goes down, and hurries to its place where it arose. The wind goes toward the south, and it turns around to the north; it whirls around continually; and the wind returns on its circuits. All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; to the place from where the rivers come, there they return again. All things are full of labor; man cannot utter it; the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. That which has been is that which shall be; and that which has been done is that which shall be done; and there is nothing new under the sun (Ecc. 1:2-9).

Are you running or racing through life with no “eternal goal” in sight?

Surely you know that many runners take part in a race, but only one of them wins the prize. Run, then, in such a way as to win the prize. Every athlete in training submits to strict discipline, in order to be crowned with a wreath that will not last; but we do it for one that will last forever. That is why I run straight for the finish line; that is why I am like a boxer who does not waste his punches. I harden my body with blows and bring it under complete control, to keep myself from being disqualified after having called others to the contest (1 Cor. 9:25-27).

It is so important that we have our eyes focused on eternal life with Jesus. If we get distracted with careers - making money for personal gain, worldly entertainment, destructive relationships, and harmful addictions, we will end up running through life on Satan’s treadmill.

God has such wonderful plans for our lives, if only we will surrender and sacrifice all at the foot of the cross.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him (John 3:16, 17).

Through the power of Jesus’ saving and sanctifying blood… Our heavenly Father picks us up, removing us from the treadmill that goes nowhere in life and places us on the straight and narrow path that leads to eternal life with Him.

Are you eager to be transformed from the inside out? Do you have a desire to sever the chains that bind you to this sick and dying world? If so, let go and let God. As you are changed day by day - moment by moment - you will begin to experience “pure joy” sent from God.

Children’s Sabbath School song… “Read your Bible, pray everyday, pray everyday, pray everyday. Read your Bible pray everyday and you will grow, grow, grow.”

Applying this simple teaching will change your life forever. May the good Lord bless you with heavenly wisdom and a desire to spread the gospel truth this week. Shine for Him!!!

In His service,

Pastor Ken Lytle
